3rd June 2006

Welcome to Christopher Woodcock from Cavan in Ireland who joins us to learn to skydive. He is pictured here getting ready for his level 5 AFF Skydive. Christopher selected Central Spain as it offers the best weather for AFF training with lower temps, less wind ( no sea breezes — bad ). This perfect weather combined with a fast turn around on both our aircraft ( our new porter is doing 10 minute climbs to 13.5K ) has allowed Chirs to progress rapidly in the two days he has been here.

No stranger to Ocaña , Leslie Potton a recent graduate is back for more freefall at the Freefall Uni. Leslie trained with us a number of weeks ago and has selected our centre for his continuation training.

Well done Tom! Ace progression. Tom has also rapidly advanced through the skydiving course and is now on level 6.

Claire Also , as she is pictured here getting ready to practice her AFF level 5 exit with the freefall doctor…

12th – 19th June 2006 – Week in review.

This week lots going on at the Freefall University. While some of the week was hampered by some spectacular and unusual thunderstorms we jumped every day with everybody completing the number of skydives they wanted. Some people managed to get ten jumps per day over the weekend…

Freefly to the max. Louis is growing the community of fun jumpers practicing and learning to freefly. Freshly boosted from his silver medal in the Hib Grand Prix Louis now has his focus when not training new freeflyers on getting ready for the world championships and British Nationals.

Our tandem passengers have their own aircraft allowing us cater for over 50 tandems one day this week without disturbing the capacity for fun jumpers who wanted to get upwards on ten skydives a day. We now via computerized manifest systems monitor wait times and proactivley manage the fleet in order to keep the time between loads low for those who want it that way. The best way to manifest is to let the manifestor know how much time you would like between your jumps. for those using packers we accept requests as low as 20 minutes.

Here Delta Papa emplanes for another load .

Here Oscar echo gets ready for another load. In the door you can see Kevin Ilsley and Joni Mallet who are both returning students getting ready for another fun jump. Both trained with us a few months ago. Joni achieved her BPA FS1 with us on a weekend visit! Joni did seven skydives in one day and Kevin did eleven skydives in one day ( Sunday ).

Emma ” Multimap ” Lane passed her AFF course , did her consols and CH1..well done 🙂

Welcome back to Lee Teal who learned to skydive with us last year. He racked up the jumps in his week with us.

Fly and enjoy , some students chill out in the sun between loads.

Here is Kevin, he has now passed the 50 jump mark..

Team Equinox , one of the local freefly teams at the drpozone.

Andrew whom is one of our AFF graduates this week has his girlfriend join him on holiday with us. She did and loved her Tandem skydive.

Congratulations to Colin Curran who did the AFF course with us. He managed to get seven consols in one day.

So guys ..do you like to fly the new solo Canopies. We as a school love the Aerodyne solo canopies and have placed orders for a further three of these bad boys and will be phasing out the Navigators for all but our gear designed for heavier students ( 14-16.5 stone ).

Congratulations to Gareth Watkins who graduated his AFF course. he has been jumpin solo to the max.

Congratulations to Nick Robinson who has completed his AFF course, consols and BPA CH1.

Andrew Evans has also passed his AFF course , consols and CH1 and is now solo skydiving for fun 🙂

Here is Daiyle Door who joins us for an AFF course and his seen here with Tim his AFF instructor.

Here is Russel Horgan who joined us for an AFF course. He too rocked through the course with Luci as his instructor and did all his solos and CH1.

Welcome also to Jas Jaciek from Germany who joined us on our BASE jumping course. Hes now off to make his first BASE jumps.

Well done also to Mike Taylor who passed his AFF course with us.

Welcome back also to James Mundy who trained with us in February. He came back to jump to the max…. In the background you can see Delta Papa while James checks out Oscar echo ” upstairs ” making a drop.

So the week coming ? Well this week we are making a documentary for / with ITV in conjunction with our London dropzone. The Ozbornes including Jack will be going through their paces on the AFF course. And this will result in a 17 million audience on prime time tv.. Were very happy to have been selected for the AFF training. Were looking forward to the group which booked out a small hotel between stars and film crew. Also we have a lot of other things going on so be sure to check in !

The week in review 19th to 26th June

The Freefall University are proud to have been selected to train the participants in the series
Jack Osbourne Around the world the hard way which will air later in the year.

All arrived having never skydived before, the producetion company told us.. 3 days… 3 days for what … 3 days to train Jack to land safely in the UK for the finale…. dont you mean a bit more than AFF and CH1 then ?? ..yes… Well Jack did his AFF and solos / accuracy course in 3 days and has told us that this is one of the sports he will keep up for sure what with LPS being down the road and Perris in California. You can see Luci working to stay proximate to his parachute handle , Jack is locked on and so is his secondary flying in formation. Nobody is holding each other and they are descending about 130mph.

Jack did great under the instruction of Luci Boella one of our full time staff. Here is a picture of Jack on his level three where is he has been released for this first time. Sorry about the logos all over the camp but its part of our agreement to only publish the pictures in this format for the moment… He will take a flight from here wearing his gear and jump straight into London Parachute School ( Our UK dropzone ) in the UK where his folks will be waiting for him. Fingers crossed for some good British weather… 🙂 today ( Friday )

Another participant from the show does some freestlye on one of her first solos here. The Freefall University also supplied all the cameramen for the show with the production company decided not to fly in their “experts” ..Peter did great .. i think this is a fab shot although Peter was a bit forlorn that the sun cast his shadow on the subject here. Bean to is today ( Friday ) making her way across the channel to jump into London Parachute School closest DZ to London one of our partner DZs in the UK. You can get to see us we believe in the finale of the series on the last Saturday in September at 9pm on ITV1. Once we have the global .

Sometimes the crew werent two obvious using smaller cameras ..

Sometimes though as was the case with the Parachute Landing technique module there was a fully fledged camera crew in action… we reckon Luci , third from the left has a great career in tv ahead of her.

Richard McConnell also returns for his third holiday with us to undertake his usual mix of birdman and freefly training.

Peter Stirling joined us for an AFF course this week. Bit of a last minute booking , he called at 1230am one night and arrived the following day.. so if your thinking about a short notice holiday give us a call..

Mayang from Malaysia joined us for the Introduction to skydiving and ended up doing half the course, unsure at first she soon fell in love with the sport and will be back shortly to complete the AFF course with us.

Letitia joined us for an AFF course and is pictured here with her AFF instructor Andy Gregory.

Nathalie from France joined us for an AFF course.

An exit at altitude for another consolidation jump. This one from delta papa.

Begoña from Fance also joined us from France for an AFF course .

Consol jumpers in the boarding area off for another skydive.. some managed to do seven solos in one day ..

Birdmen over Ocaña. More and more people are joining us for the birdmen for beginners . The ground school is only 50 euros and then its 25 euros per day to rent from our extensive range of suits , regardless of how many jumps you do. Here Cedric an expat living in Madrid takes the course with Paula.. 1 minute 33 seconds on the first flight… sweet 🙂

Congratulations to Will Smith who also joined us for an AFF course , he is seen here checking in..

More solos for Bean .. who got right back into it!

Welcome back for your third holiday with us Ian ! Ian learned to skydive with us early in the year and is back once again. He is picutred here checking his email in our own cyber caf on the dz. Internet access is free and you dont even need your own machine!

June 2006 – Part 2

Welcome to June Part two at the Freefall University in Spain , top weather , top skydiving!

26th – 31st June 2006.
Welcome to Zbigniew from Poland who joined us to complete an AFF course.

Nick Elliot who trained only weeks ago is back for more jumping, hes nearly finished his consol jumps now. His local dropzone is the Wild Geese.

As the world cup was on we spent many evenings on the Dz this month having bbq and cerveza ( spanish for beer 🙂 . An intersesting time given we have French portuguese British , Irish and German people here at the moment..

Houdini is the master of ceremonies at hte bbq..

This month saw lots of freefly action now that Danillo is finished his exams.

There is no stopping Sylvan Butt our school mini bus driver.. He has clocked up over 300 jumps in just five months since qualifying to skydive solo the aff course .Then with Luci he completed the BPA formation skydiving course.

Sylvan has completed our base jumping course and also our birdman course . He is pictured here getting ready for his first two way birdman flight after his course with Andy Gregory who was his original AFF instructor.

Tom De Pelet is becoming a regular now since qualifying two months ago , this is his third time with us and hes getting ready for our formation skydiving course.

Billy Gibbons returned to work on his Freefly skills. On his last trip he qualified for the FF1 freefly qualification. Hes seen here getting ready for a 2 way with Sylvan.

Brian Constant Joins us to learn to skydive on the aff course.

Nathalie Harvier Joins us from London to do the AFF course. Was indeed an interesting week what with France seeming to run away with things in the world cup.. The BBQ the night France beat Spain was interesting ..

Philip McGaw , or mister ” tainted love ” joined us for another week of skydiving. Phil trained with us last year , spent some time in the wind tunnell before arriving and will get into the Formation skydiving course .

Richard Heish joined us for an AFF course this week.

July 2006

Welcome to July 2006 at the Freefall University. What a month in store , if you would like one of the few remaining places in July / August / September please get in touch

1st July to 6th July 2006

4 Way for fun. Spanish and British skydivers planning an impromptu 4 way.

Welcome to Sam O Brien who joins us to learn to skydive on the AFF course.

More freefly action.

Nick Elliot who did his aff course with us last month is racking up the solos.. This is his second holiday with us now in about four weeks.

Steffan Williams from Wales who trained with us last year is back for more action over the skies of Ocaña. He did a quick refresh course to get back into things and now is skydiving solo to beat the band.

Richard Styles joined us for an AFF course. Our AFF courses are fanatastic fun and great to come on your own or in a group. Theres always lots happening..

Looks like three courses ( Birdman BASE and freefly ) in a month is finally taking its toll on Sylvan..he didnt move most of the day… Except of course to run the shuttle bus service from the hotels in Aranjuez to the dropzone for our clients in the mornings and evenings.

Ready , Set …go ! Richard exits with Andy Gregory for his level four skydive. This is the last time you will leave the plane with your instructor holding onto you. From level five on you generally go with him/her at your side.

The weather has been just perfect in central Spain. No sea breazes to contend with ( or keep you on the ground ) .

Michael Harris who also joined us for the AFF course is clocking up the solos..

John Walsh who joined us for the AFF Course heads off for his level three skydive. The level three is the last level where you have two instructors with you. Here you see Tim on the right and Pedro on the left as they slide down the relative wind just after jumping. With the relative wind you fly sideways for a few seconds due to the fact that when you leave the plane its flying forwards. Once out you start to accelerate towards the planet and will in a few seconds be belly to earth.

Its been pretty much non stop. With the FFU Ocana there is no struggle to get the jumps in. Many people ask us how many jumps they can get in a day.. more than you can handle is the answer… When selecting a school , make sure its not one that will struggle to fly its plane mid week..

Welcome to John Merchant Locke and Alastair Wheatland who joined us for an aff course . They are pictured here in check in. If you are not to tired from travelling you will get straight into it with your personal tutor.

Neil O Grady , another graduate from the AFF Course manifests himself. Our manifestor Robert has been doing a top job , putting people on loads and making sure you get the skydive numbers you want..

Manifesting is easy , go the the window tell them youd like to go to 13K ASAP and listen out for your name..

Welcome to Rajan Chaudhary who joins us for an AFF Course. Rajan was a last minute booking confirming his arrival the day before travel. If you would like to learn to skydive call us to see if we have a short notice space.

Mark Hudson also joined us for an AFF course. Top course Mark.

Many thanks to Leticia and Pete Sterling for giving us permission to post some pictures they took on Holiday with us. You can see the rest of them here: Leticia and Peters Skydiving Holiday

Both were students on our AFF Course

Heres one from dinner in an Argentian Restaurant in Aranjuez. Steak the size of a yellow pages for about 9 euros! This restaurant is 2 minutes away from the hotel district.

And another Pete Snapped from a group coming in after a jump. Check out the link to see more photos and video from their course.

Check it out here : Leticia and Peters Skydiving Holiday

6th -13th July 2006

Ricardo Ferreria joined us from Portugal to complete the AFF Course. In addition to English , French and German courses this year saw us open the Freefall University Portugal. His instructor is Paula Silva.

Here they are seen exiting the Porter on the Level four. The Level four AFF skydive is the first level where you move down to one instructor. You complete a body check with the instructor who then releases you ( but stays close ) so you can practice turns for the first time.

Level five is more or less the same except you get more freedom with the turns to practice 360 degrees. In this photo Ricardo is ” locked on ” to his altimiter in advance of opening his parachute.

Darren Wildgoose did a great job on his AFF course. He is pictured here with his AFF Instructor Tim Boyd.

This is Mikey Harris who has completed his AFF course with Luci and gone on to do the formation skydiving course. Mike had started an AFF course in the UK but didnt finish it but chose to do so with ourselves. He brought his own jump suit with him and his own gear which he was able to jump once he had finished his consol jumps.

Here is Barry O Connell from the UK who did an AFF course and his consols with us this week. Well done Barry

Here he is on his level seven with Andy. THe level seven skydive is all about demonstrating all that you have learned during the last six jumps…

Recovering Stability
Turns
Tracks
Loops
Altitude Awareness
Pull Sequence
Landing your parachute accuratley.

Mike Key also joined us for an AFF Course this Week.

Matthew Watkins joined us for an AFF Course.

Here he is on level seven getting an ” arch ” reminder from Luci his instructor.

And here he is front flip during a solo skydive.

Ardoiun Baker who also joined us to complete an AFF course/ consols went on to do shorts and t shirts dives also.

Here some of the guys pose for a photo before taking to the air. Also on the left not in the news before now is Richard Jeans who joined us for an AFF course.

Richard is pictured here on a a solo skydive. All the solo skydive pictures were taken by Peter one of our cameramen.

14th- 27th July 2006

Here is Jason Ashworth who joined us for a weeks skydiving. Jason had not skydived before cominng on the AFF course.

Carl Ross joined us for an aff course. He is pictured here with Aimee. Aimee meets the people who want private transfers in the airport.

Carl will be with us for a week.

Jonathan didnt take long to get stuck into his course. You arrive and if not too tired get into your ground school the same day.

Here he is getting ready to exit , he did so well under Lucis supervision ´that he did his first solo exit on level four !

You ” passed ” , thumbs up from Luci on the freefall portion of level seven.

Julia arrived to learn to skydive with us. Julia no stranger to adventure sports had not jumped before but was ” stopping off ” here before going onwards to Cyprus to scuba dive.

She is pictured here practicing the exit for the first jump with Ulli her instructor.

Level one done , smashing level one too. Julia commented ” I forget about keeping my legs straight” ..dont worry this is the intro level and you have eight to get things the way you´d like them. Smashing first level Julia !

Yup ! Ready to rock.

Handshake in freefall for your graduation ..sweet !

Julia went on to do her ten solos and CH1.

Carl Made short work of his course and soon was getting into the solo jumps.

Nick Corry , ex forces also arrived to learn to skydive on our AFF course. He is pictured here with his coach Luci Boella.

Nick is taking a parachute apart in this photo getting an idea of how it works in his ground shchool. On the left you can see Enkel from Germany. Enkel was a visitor to Ocana some months ago and recently moved to Ocana to work as a packer ahnd in German client care. Welcome on board.

Nick went on to pass his AFF course in days and in these photos you can see him and Carl another AFF graduate from this week heading off to the flightline to board for another solo skydive.

Dustin Calstelsky from Canada also joined us this forthight for an AFF course which he completed in 2 days, he went on to rack up the solos before leaving to rejoin his ocean liner. He is a first officer on the ship and promised to rejoin us the next time he docks in Southhampton.

Mike Harris who trained with us a few weeks ago has posted his video on google video

Video of Mike Harris on his aff course

Mike is also after a main and says ” i’m looking for a 170 main that has at least 100 jumps on it. something like a sabre, sabre2, pilot, PD 170, silhouette or anything else that isnt eliptical. Budget limit is gbp500. If you have a main your looking to sell you can contact Mike via our students forum

The ” arch ” is the basic body position in skydiving and the first thing you will master on our AFF course. Here Ben Riding who joins us for an AFF course practices the position.

Ben trained with Tim and can be seen here getting a gear check. You get three gear checks before every skydive on the AFF course. Once when you put the gear on , one in the boarding area and on the “2 minute call” at altitude.

Nicholas Waller who trained with us a few months ago is back for more. He will complete the formation skydiving course.

Here is another happy man! Well done Darren Wildgoose who passed his AFF course with Timothy. Thumbs up are exchanged on the lower portion of the level seven aff skydive.

August 2006

Welcome to August Skydiving 2006 at the Freefall University. mid week flight. Indeed some of last months graduates who stayed for one week were completing their AFF course and upwards on 30 solos in a week!

1st August to the 5th August 2006

Welcome to Craig Dixon who joins us for an AFF course. He is seen here with Julia who graduated our AFF course in Late July.

Marian Collande who joined us for an AFF course. Marian is from Germany

David McGill who us for an AFF Course.

BBQ´s are a regular feature of evening life on the dropzone. A steak the size of a telephone book costs about 2 quid in the shops and goes down well with a few beers after jumping is over for the day.

Tim who joined us in Late July for an AFF course is pictured her getting ready for another solo. He did his AFF course in 2 days and went onto clock up 23 solos in five days. Hes already planning a return trip back.

Here he is on his last jump before heading home.

Robert Bradley also joined us for an AFF course.

Milos Momcilovic joined us for an AFF Course.

Adam Casey joined us for an AFF course.

Nicholas Waller joined us to complete the formation skydiving course. Nicholas joined us last Feb for an AFF course and this is his third trip to the university.

Stop smilin.. this is serious… freefall puts a smile on your face no matter what! Here is Craig Dixon on one of his AFF jumps.

Here is Marian getting ready to ” exit ” on his level seven graduation skydive.
Marian has already booked to come back in September and wants to be a freeflyer, his favourite aff jump was the level seven when he got ” off his belly ” for the first time.

Robert did great also, and was last seen at the 20+ jump mark!

David McGill is enjoying the solo skydives , here he is on one of his jumps where he took a cameraman along.

Lets fly , Turbine sunset. Here you see another sunset load embark. With us its very simple. Arrive , train .. tell us how many jumps you want to do .. ten a day ?? no problemo..

Julia did great on her AFF course and completed her consols in day and a half… she decided to go onwards and has now also completed her formation skydiving course. Over 30 jumps in one week 🙂

What will be your favourite part of the skydive ? Here is Marian exiting the porter for another solo skydive. This time a backflip out the door.

Marian hit the 25 jump mark early in his week.

Robert and Adam are pictured here in the ” right Stuff ” pose getting ready for their first solo skydive .. have fun … you will never forget your first solo.. the moment you stand in the door look back in , give the others a quick wink and off you go…

Fly together and party together. Many people ask what its like to come on their own. Dont worry about it , this load has doctors, soldiers ..all backgrounds , but nobody knew each other before arriving but you will make some lasting friendships on the course. Being one of Europes most popular AFF destinations means you will be immersed in high adrenaline environment.

Fly Aerodyne ? We are purchasing yet again and given the excellent characteristics of the Aerodyne Solo ( in our view ) over the Navigator we are getting some more of them in at the end of the month. We will alse be taking delivery of more Aerodyne containers and Aerodyne demo systems so you can fly with a view to buy. If you rent our Aerodyne gear and subsequently purchase you can discount the cost of the gear rental from your purchase value!

Did you know ? We offer the Aerodyne Pilot main , Smart Reserve , Icon container and AAD for as little as 3500 pounds vat included ? Our excellent relationship with the seller of the worlds fastest selling reserve parachute has allowed us leverage awesome prices for your first complete set of gear.

Would you like to learn to skydive , or take part in one of our continuation courses or have us tailor training to your needs ? Then get in touch . The next month sees people from afar afield as Syria and Australia come train with us aswell as “easyjet loads” of people from the UK, Germany , Portugal and Ireland . Theres only 3 spaces left in August and about 8 in September , so be sure to book soon.

6th / 7th August

In addition to meeting people from the UK on AFF courses you will also meet Portuguese , German and Spanish people. In the last week we had 8 Uk students graduate but also people from Germany and Portugal. Here is another AFF beginner group just arrived from Southern Portugal. Paula is seen here doing the ground school. Paula works as a main instructor in the portugese team and a support ( secondary ) in the UK team. She is also a Base and birdman coach.

This group of jumpers came to us for a level one skydive on our introduction to skydiving package.

Madrid and Aranjuez ( where our reccomended hotels are ) are the perfect destination for a stag or hen party. Here John the groom gets a small ground school of his mates before starting ours 🙂

Adam has finshed his AFF cousre in style and is now jumping solo. He has completed about 15 solos and still has a few days left with us!

Here Anna from Portugal is seen getting ready for her first skydive.

If you see this signal i freefall.. a hand waving gently .. your instructor is suggesting you relax your mucles..sometimeds people tend to adopt a stiff body position and not a relaxed ( almost limp ) one.

Each time before you skydive. You run through the theory of the skydive and then do a thorough practice to include the “exit”. Or leaving the plane. Here you see a level four being practiced with Joana one of our AFF students arrived the yesterday morning. This will be her first jump with one instructor.

Niet who lives in London has joined us to complete her AFF course. She graduated yesterday evening and has already been skydiving solo.

Event for your diary:

On the 27th of September we will be starting a week long focus on formation skydiving. For some this will be perhaps a good time to do your BPA FS1 rating and for others the odd coached jump here and there. There are people coming from many UK dropzones for jumping and training , if you would like to visit us perhaps for the first time get in touch. It promises to be a fun week.

8th August

Welcome to Nicola Conaty who joins us for an AFF course. She is seen here after her first skydive. Looking pretty happy with herself and well she should .. she did a great job!

9,5 from the client care jury on the artistic scale ! Well done Milos who has passed the 25 jump mark and is trying all kindsa funky stuff expecially on the exit here from the porter.

Well done Maria Pimental who did her aff course in 2 days. She joins the solo team now for a few days solo jumping / coaching. Despite being from Portugal she will go through the BPA curriculum which includes CH1.

Ana Dias has one more level to do, she finished the day on level six and will do her last AFF jump tommorrow morning.

You see some funny things on a dropzone . From watching rival ant colonies battle it out to a cross between a skateboard and a bike.. a handy way to get around i guess.

Nick has been jumping away to his hearts content. Hes now of course FS1 qualified meaning he has been jumping with other people.

9th -12th August

Bannanaman is back ! Welcome back to Alan Anderson who was actually our third ever AFF student some years ago. Alan has chosen formation skydiving as his discipline and is jumping away with some of our other returning students and fun jumpers.

A tradition when you graduate your skydiving course is to purchase a crate of beer for your fellow jumpers. This is strictly only after jumping has finished for the day of course .

Here Maria and Anna serve beer from their crates at the end of the day.

Kelvyn Hicks and Gemma Butler joined us for an AFF course.

Nicola Conaty graduated her AFF course and went on to do her consol jumps.
She is pictured her from the cam of Luci Boella on her Level 6.

We were joined by a group from the UK who came down to check out the FFU and Aranjuez on our tandem skydive program. The aim of this skydive is to give you a taster of the sport in a safe environment. We dont focus heavily on tandems Most have said they will be back soon do do our AFF course.

Gemma Butler did great on her course and graduated in two days.

Luke her brother also joined us to do the introduction jump. He loved it and will be back shortly for the AFF course.

Shaun Gender Evans joined us for the complete AFF course and is pictured here with Tim .

Shaun trained with Tim and here you see them together in one of our traing rooms debriefing the skydive. The video we take of your course is invaluable as a training aid but is also yours to take at the end of the course on a DVD. This is a standard feature of our aff course not a hidden extra!

Well done to Phil Stephens who completed the AFF course with us, he went on to complete his ten consols and then some.

Welcome to Carl Murphi and Barry O´Neill who join us from dublin to complete the AFF course.

Adrenalin and a great vibe make a dropzone a timeless place. When your not jumping you will probably be snoozing around the place inside or otudside depending on whether you want a tan.

Creeper or as you will come to know them ” Trolley ” training , we practice the arch position with you ” lots ” on the ground so you can do it easily in the air .
