BPA A License Procedures

All our staff are british and this includes staff with BPA Accelerated freefall Advanced instructor ratings. Therefore we routinely take people with no Experience to both USPA A and BPA A  License Standard. For our BPA Clients there is no need to get your qualification ratified in the UK etc ( IE no hassle ) .

If you wish to get your A license paperwork taken care of onsite please be sure to bring at least 2 passport photos with you to Spain. Leave the rest to us 🙂 Provided you meet the qualifications your BPA A License will normally arrive to you about a week after you get home.

Will somebody please think of the children

Senor Versace and company decided to see if they could turn a lilo into a magic carpet. In what is being hailed as a scientific breakthrough by their spokesman they claim to have levitated over the skies of Madrid for most of Sunday afternoon.  You heard it here first folks. They say you can have your magic lilo in any color you like once its white.

Welcome to David Marietta who came for his skydiving holiday with us to learn to skydive.
He completed his AFF course with Mike.

The Lilo Lilo boys having hailed their magic carpet Lilo flights a success ( but seemingly having misplaced the lilo somewhere in the sky, a rumour vigorously denied by their spokesperson who declined to be photographed I must add ) decided to occupy themselves with  more traditional skydiving. The gang down from the UK number 15 or so have been completing anything from 3 to 5 ways together.

Tony, Jon and Andy praticing for a 3 way.

Welcome to Mate Ivancic who is pictured here with his instructor Darren joined us to learn to skydive.

Josh decided to step out in style and test drive an intrudair tracking suit. I think the most jumps he did in one day was 8 and he has his sights set on flying a wingsuit. He is preparing the right way by doin some super sonic tracks in the ” suit ” .. He came down of his last jump as wide eyed as you see him here saying ” they were just floating, floating i tell you  ” .. It was at this point that press interest in the magic lilo started to get really intense and we had to seal of the dz to non skydivers.

1, 1000, 2 , 1000 … The guys wait in the boarding area discussing seperation between groups

Clark does not want to go back home , we didnt either when we started skydiving so each member of the FFU team found a way to work in the sport.

And the lilo is where ?

Congratulations to Terry who passed his AFF Course and went on to crack through the consolidation jumps.

Mark, Paula, Jon and Andrew ready for a Formation Skydive 3 way.

Shae and Josh fun jumping, 1st 2 way together.

Welcome back to Ellie, Ellie learned to skydive earlier this year and has made a number of trips out to Madrid ( from London )  .. This is her 2nd trip  this month and shes been joining in on some of the organised formation skydives in this case 4 ways.

And up they go but not before time for a team pose. A special welcome to Chris Occomore who trained with us back in 07 I believe it was. In 4 years since  he has completed over 1000 skydives and was doin camera for the 4 way.

Mike and David.

Next week we will be busy as we approach a period of time for which we are near booked out for our  accelerated freefall courses. We also run courses for both tandem and aff instructors. These ratings courses will be a frequent feature on our calendar. 5 People will be put their their paces to see if they are ready to become AFF instructors in a series of evaluation jumps and 5 people will undertake training and evaluation to become tandem masters so they can take people tandem skydiving both here in Madrid and at their respective dropzones around europe.

The Boys are back in town

When the boys come into town all the girls go crazy:-), Tony Stack, Mark Atherton, Steve Luke, Jon Edmondson and Andrew Glegg are in the house for fun in the spanish  sun. Skydiving by day and Aranjuez and Madrid by night.  They are the advance party in a group of ten jumpers coming down from the UK for some fun jumping. Some have completed their AFF course here earlier this year and for others it is their first visit to us in Madrid.  Hope you have a great time fellas . Plan ” v ” then plan ” viii “.

Clark who started jumping yesterday morning is pretty much done with the
AFF course and is going up for his level 7 next.

Rock and Roll Terry !

Carl finished  his AFF Course yesterday, he says this is the best thing he
did so far in his life, hes getting through the consolidation jumps today. Nice one Carl we can identify … skydiving is not surpassed by much .

Bryan Farnan from Ireland dropped in for some fun jumping and found a jump buddy in Shae seen here getting ready for a 2 way formation skydive.

The pythagoras theorem ?

[Visitorcountry=default]

Fred ( left )  from London and Stephen ( Right ) from Scotland joined forces in our  wingsuit school to complete the first jump course.  They are seen here in 2 of of our rental suits getting ready for their first solo flight.  We have several different suits for wingsuiters to try out before making a purchase decision on what suit they would like to purchase for themselves.

Welcome to Clark Gibson from England, Clark arrived yesterday afternoon  from London to complete his Accelerated Freefall Course with us  in Madrid.  By the end of today he had completed his first three levels.

A big welcome back to Shae originally  from Canada but now living in Bristol, she did her AFF course with us earlier this year and this time she is back for some more adventure over the skies of Madrid.  For Shae this is her third trip to the uni and she has arrived with 50 skydives completed. In fact Shae while perusing the options has done all her skydiving here given better weather and a great vibe is just a short easyjet ride away.

Carl Britten who is a soldier from Bristol joined us for a skydiving holiday  on short notice.
Mike took  him through the accelerated freefall  training , he finished his course in 3 days and is now getting into the solo skydiving already.

Welcome to Terry Roberts who just arrived for the accelerated freefall course having done his level one in Netheravon last weekend.  He arrived in the early afternoon and completed a safety orientation course to take account of jumping with a new instructor at a new dropzone. Judging by the buckets of enthusiasm Terry brought with him he will be a regular at the Army parachute center when he finishes the course given its just next door to him.

Jason Mortier  from the UK also joined us to complete the accelerated freefall program, later I will put on our website the videos of his skydives and you will get to see how well he has been doing.

Khoi from England seen here   gets ready to do his level one skydive.

Clint is seen here getting ready for his  1st coached jump  having completed all his consolidation jumps ( he is actually now on about 35 jumps in ten days ). He made the now infamous ” dont put the kettle on im not coming home ” call and bought a block of 50 jumps and extended his stay by ten days. Nice.  He was last seen working on project ” X ” . If you made it all the way down here and want to know why this bulletin is called the pythagoras theorom , I really have no idea 🙂

One last thing , Props to Josh who bought himself 200 jump tickets whilst setting himself the ambitious target ( but well achievable especially on a diet of weetabix ) of doing them in 6 weeks. At the rate he is jumping , having arrived as an accelerated freefall student he will leave flying wingsuits.

” Do I have to go back to Work ” ?

Thunderbirds are go… Ok Really thats probably over the younger folks heads lol but you get the idea. We been working pretty hard to make sure our clients have the holiday of a lifetime. We wont blow our own trumpet but its been a great deal of fun for us to take care of so many people and we believe they had a good time. Tom Britton from London is seen here getting ready for his accelerated freefall level one.

Andrew Doggett from London who is an IT Analyst and keen sportsman joined us to learn to skydive.

Josh as you know joined us to get some serious skydiving under his belt. Hes currently up to 40 skydives now with his A license completed. He is working on more advanced skydiving skills. You can check out his jump number 25 here.  Now hes just randomly saying to people ”  Do I have to go back to work? ”

Carlo Tuzzi completed accelerated freefall with us last summer but came back this year for another skydiving holiday. His ambition is to get 15 or 20 skydives in the few days that he spends here with us.

Henrik who has been nailing the accuracy landing the in ” peas ” very consistantly. We have an experienced landing area and while our students are welcome to land in it. The lower experienced landing area ( adjacent with no obstacles or fences etc in between ) has a large circle of white sand  to aim for . Remember though take a walk over a low turn. In any event the landing area is 30km squared. Heinrik trained with us as a skydiving student earlier in the year and this marks his third holiday with us since graduating our accelerated freefall programme earlier in the year.

Currently ( enough said or ill be shot  ! ) We have 2 Turbo 34 porters rocking up to altitude in 13 minutes so despite peaking out at 184 tandems this past weekend it was all taken in our stride. We make this point on purpose , our team is focussed on getting you in the air as much as you want. We have a great flexibility in this regard and its a case of watch this space!

Its a but like waiting for a bus then two come along .. take your pick 🙂

Atmanauti girl has arrived ! Its like how many different ways can you exit and look all cool and stuff 🙂

We are in a continous process of improvement and one of the things we insisted on that made this years cut was getting a grassed landing area. This means as an experienced skydiver your canopy is not settling on dust reducing its porosity.

Clint from the UK who is a pilot decided it would be a good deal to swop flying aircraft for jumping out of them and that is exactly what he did and in style too !

Here he is pictured under a performance designs ” Navigator ” ,,  in our eyes the only parachute students should ever be given. Nice in the opening , forgiving in student hands
and a sweet “flare”. Flaring is what you do to ” slow ” your descent rate just before touching down.

Dominic Hodge  flew in from Africa to complete the AFF course with us also.  He said that skydiving was ” Fantastic, scary after  but 2 days of  training its  great once relaxed. ” .

The return of the cone heads…Listen fellas , nobody here is into the whole looking cool on the dropzone routine , so whilst you might think its all cool throwing shapes at the tandem passengers and trying to impress the students ( oh wait you are our students )  , being all manly and sky god like we really like to do our talking in the sky.

We have had a lot people come on our AFF courses in the last week and walking about you will always see something happening related to AFF , be in mentally running through a dive, like Fred here from Ireland who did his AFF course in two days of jumping.

Then theres the impromptu 3 and 4 ways we can help you put together especially if you come on your own.  Paula is the master when it comes to putting dives together on short notice.

Welcome to Azad Abdul, Koi Tao, Ricaard and Jason Mortier whi just arrived for
AFF Courses also, we will have more from these guys in the next update. The next weeks and months are wall to wall action at the Uni. So come on down to Madrid … We will give you wings!

Skydiving at the Uni

Its been a fun week at the Freefall  University we saw 12 people, most of whom had never skydived before become skydivers through our accelerated freefall  course in an average of 3 days of jumping.  All are currently completing their consolidation exercises under the watchful eye of Paula who is assisting them with their BPA CH1 and setting individual jump exercises in addition to offering further training. Consolidation jumping is about much more than hiring a rig and jumping , they are a chance to grow your experience , confidence and recieve further training in addition to reviewing the procedures already covered during your AFF. For example in addition to reviewing how to check your own equipment you learn about the dos and donts of doing a flightline check for other skydivers.
Sebastian just leaving the plane for another consol. Sebastain is pictured above punching out into a ” floating exit ” .

We have also been  hard at work to give our more experienced skydivers something to chew on in terms of  a new world experience.  Here are some pictures taken from Adrians formation birdman training. Recall that Adrian a little over ten days  week ago had never flown a birdman suit but yet under the intense tutelage  of his  wingsuit instructor he is is learning about up and overs followed by a smooth dock , pictures below.

Stephen only left a few days ago but it seems that a return to blighty was too much for him to take as he was no sooner home than he booked an easyjet from London  back to Madrid for some more fun in the sun.  Himself , John and Kamilla decided on some 3 way action and formed a scrambles team and promptly got into 3 way formation skydiving.

Did I really just do that ???

James Robson from London  is jumping with Daniel. No stranger to high perssure situations due to his work he is taking accelarated freefall in his stride.  He admitted to being  scared but very focused before  his  1st jump but  after landing after his first AFF skydive his first thought   was “Did a really just do  that???!!! ” Yes you did and judging by the video debrief I saw you did it in style too. I remember feeling ,, well new things.. after my first skydive , a very nice kind of shock and euphoria but it was very calm.. Welcome to the Uni James.

Welcome to Joanna Sealy, from the City in  London. She  did 2 Tandem
jumps in the UK  and  decided it was better to do the accelerated freefall  course
with us in Spain as oppossed to another tandem . We think that was a good decision.

Welcome to the guys from Belfast ..  Jonny, Chris and Allan who arrived today for  AFF Course and our Oktoberfest in the Spanish Sun. They will shortly get into the ground school and get into the skydiving

Congratulations Alesandro Stoppa. Allesandro has been with us three days  and has already completed his Accelerated freefall Course and is cracking into the solo skydives.
I asked him what did he think when  the “door opened” for his first jump. He said i looked down and could only think “Sh1t”.. yup it all gets a bit real but the rubber met the road ahd he was off  with his two AFF Instructors ..  He is still trying to put words on the experience but given he is cracking into the solos now we anticipate nice ones!

Sebastian did his ground school yesterday and 4 levels of the Accelerated Freefall today. He is originally  from Romania but lives in South London. he is a meeting event coordinator but admits this has been ” the event ” ..  After his first  jump he said it felt like liters of adrenaline. Sebastian will be with us for a week and anticipates completing at least 30 skydives.

Welcome back to Paul Darling from Ireland he  did his freefall course with us last year in June and is now  returning now for some more fun jumping.  He  like many of our clients started with Static line in Ireland but after waiting  3 months to do his 1st jump decided to give it a miss and get some of the good stuff ( AFF ) He has done some jumping in the IPC but is back for a weeks intensive jumping.

Filmon is another returning student, based in London,  he too did his course with us last year and is now back for some more fun in the sun.

Izaac another former AFF student . He  jumps in London. He racked up 40 jumps in the UK so far but has his eyes firmly set on some of our advanced courses.

Welcome also to Chris Wiik  who arrived yesterday night  ,  he did his Ground school  today and got stuck into the skydiving straight away completing his first AFF skydive this evening.

Ellie Southworth and Ellie arrrree baccck! Seriously i have run out of superlatives cos you guys take my breath away .. its such fun to have you guys here!

Filmon just landed from another great consol jump.

Kamila is McLovin it , shes getting into formation skydiving now having completed her AFF course with us late last month.

Mr. James  ” did I nail the unstable exit “Daly ( yes you did ). James has been trying to get into skydiving for a while now through the static line method but due to weather and work committments in Ireland never had the time to devote to it..so he went big and decided AFF was the way to go..  Clearly it is after completing the ground school he has already  completed 5 of the AFF levels and is within striking distance of going solo from the top.

Jonny Morton, Good to see you ! Planes Trains and automobiles but he  arrived yesterday evening did his Ground school and AFF level one today.

Plamen from Bulgaria has joined us to complete the wingsuit for beginners course.

Birds of a Feather

[visitorcountry=default]

The weekend has been exciting  for a number of reasons , it could be that we introduced 230 people to the sport of skydiving through tandem skydives. It could be that we trained 6 new AFF graduates ( that is extra special and what we love doing ) ..  It could be that the waiting time for a jump once requested was kept below 20 minutes due to a multi aircraft operation or it could be that that with the support of  fun jumpers from the Greater Madrid and the UK in particular  we almost doubled our  jump numbers from last year. The most visually exciting thing though was seeing more and more of our wingsuit flyers turn up to do some random but planned ( english professors hold your tongue ! ) 10 and 15 ways over the skies of Madrid.

The birds.

Domingos Mamede, originally from Portugal but long term resident of Manchester joined me this morning to begin the  accelerated freefall program.

Welcome back to Joe who completed his  AFF Course and consols with us last month but is back for some fun in the sun. We dont have the channel tunnell but we do have a 3 hour link to the heart of London now. You could be sight seeing around the house of Parliment and be with us 3 hours later over the skies of Madrid thanks to the new rail link from Madrid Airport to the dropzone.

Nick Hopkins who completed the Accelerated Freefall course with us last month also returns for more skydiving and perhaps to get into the formation skydiving course. Nick who is from London is no stranger to advenure . He is already qualified as an acrobatic and sea plane pilot and deap sea diver .. for him skydiving was an extension of a passion for the sky.

Congratulations to Louise who  completed her AFF course and got into the consols with confidence.

Here is Louise on what I believe is her level seven skydive, tracking.

And doing a stable , unstable , recover stability routine in the form of a loop .

With the dive plan complete time for a  double thumbs up to the camerawoman…nice !

He is seen here in ground school wearing a parachute. Ground school commenses with a thorough review of parachute equipment and parachute procedures.

New Dropzone train service.

Starting today it is possible to get a train from Madrid Airport ( t4) to Aranjuez ( where popular hotel choices for our students are ) . Tickets are available in a multitude of vending machines in the airport. We will pick you up from the train station. Trains run from 5am to Midnight and depart the airport every 20 minutes. It is a short and comfortable journey. This means our clients can leave London at 9am and skydive with us before Lunch.

Solo Skydiving in 3 days

Luke Maddison arrived only 3 days ago never having done a skydive before and yet here he is skydiving solo ..  Its a totally unnatural act to jump out of an aeroplane yet Lukes doing it cannonball style curled up in a ball on this , his 15th skydive on day number 3.

Thumbs up to the camerawoman in freefall after recovering stability.

And a quick turn , humm ok its a photo.. but i know its a turn because of the body position … One arm slightly down ,, one arm slightly up.. Imagine your turning a big steering wheel..

Zelem aka the ” Fonz ”  gets ready for skydive number 15  ,, not bad given he arrived  here 3 days ago.

Track like a bullet… Tracking is used to move larger distances horizontally in the sky.. For example if you were on a formation skydive you and your dive partner could not open your parachutes in the same place .. so each picks a heading and ” tracks” or flys off to their own part of the sky to open in solitude.

Lock on.. During your AFF course and consols ” lock on ” signifies focussing on your
altimiter for the last 1000 feet towards opening altitude. It serves several functions most important of which is reinforcing altitude awareness.
